R. Sharath in San Francisco

Yoga is very much about lineage...and this past week I realized what a hard-core traditionalist I've become about Ashtanga yoga. Who could have predicted this more than 10 years ago when I wandered into a Boulder yoga studio that happened to be run by one of the foremost American teachers, Richard Freeman? Within six months, life as I'd know it, changed dramatically, and it's been a ride ever since. So I'm super excited R. Sharath is now in San Francisco for two weeks of classes. Yes, classes are early (naps help if early mornings cramp your style) AND it is a big opportunity in a beautiful venue. R. Sharath is carrying on in the tradition of his grandfather Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois who is no longer well enough to travel to teach. Jois, was a student of Sri. T. Krishnamacarya, who is probably the main reason Westerners' are doing yoga in the first place. Anyhow, I say, accept no substitutes!
